Si ts’a’oomti: Making Smoked Meat

This video showcases one way of smoking deer meat. The meat in this video is wa̱n (deer). There are a lot of ways to do this, and this is just an example of one way. The brine was an overnight one with salt, brown sugar and soya sauce. Brining the meat is optional, but definitely make sure the meat is somewhat dry & tacky to the touch when you start smoking it. Luwi (alder) has been the wood of choice here since time immemorial.
