Clam Gardens with the Clam Garden Network

This video focuses on knowledge related to the revitalization and management of Clam Gardens. Clam gardens are ancient intertidal features constructed by coastal First Nations of BC and Native Americans of Washington State and Alaska (USA), to enhance shellfish productivity and to fee the people. They are one of many practices enacted by Indigenous Peoples to maintain or increase the production of cultural foods, including clams.

During the webinar we will cover the following key points:
– What ancestral clam gardens are and their importance beyond clams;
– How the Clam Garden Network is supporting communities to revitalize traditional practices;
– Learn how to identify and record clam gardens in your territory
