Free, Prior and Informed Consent
Indigenous Peoples have a clear right to determine for themselves whether to say ‘yes’ or ‘no’ or ‘yes with conditions’, whenever governments or corporations propose actions that could impact their lives, lands, jurisdictions and futures. The exercise of this aspect of the right to self- determination is known as "free, prior and informed consent" or FPIC.

Welcome to our blog Güüdisk, by Lisa Girbav and Stephen Kingshott. We work hard to harvest our traditional Ts’msyen (Tsimshian) foods, and eat what we harvest. This is our space to share our experiences harvesting, preserving and preparing (eating!) the foods that are available in our territory. In the process, we hope to encourage other young Ts’msyen to get out and harvest!
