Gathering of Indigenous-Led Organizations in Agriculture and Food Gathering Report – March 15, 2023

The Gathering of Indigenous-Led Organizations was organized in collaboration
between the BC Ministry of Agriculture and Food and the Working Group on
Indigenous Food Sovereignty (WGIFS) in an administrative partnership with the
Kamloops Food Policy Council. The WGIFS accepted the contract to lead the planning,
coordination and facilitation of the Gathering on March 15th, 2023 at the En’owkin Centre
in Penticton, BC. The purpose of the Gathering was to gather input from a broader
representation of Indigenous-led organizations involved in agriculture and food to inform
how the Ministry can structure future programming that will meet the wide variety of needs
of Indigenous-led organizations in a distinctions-based approach. The Gathering also
intended to improve understanding and relationships between those present.
