Interior Health: Indigenous Health & Wellness Strategy

The Indigenous Health & Wellness Strategy 2022-2026 by Interior Health (IH) aims to improve health outcomes and equity for Indigenous Peoples in the B.C. Interior. The strategy is built on four focus areas: Commitment to Cultural Safety and Humility, Strengthening Partnerships and Shared Decision Making, Health Equity through Shared Accountability, and Person, Family, and Community Wellness. Key initiatives include implementing cultural safety education, increasing Indigenous workforce representation, enhancing partnerships with Indigenous communities, and integrating traditional wellness practices into healthcare. The strategy aligns with recommendations from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, the In Plain Sight Report, and other pivotal documents, emphasizing collaboration, respect, and culturally safe care.
